Our Third Core Value: Bring Your Best Self
At Stoic ProjectWorks, our Core Values shape how we plan, communicate, lead, and partner. I’ve already shared my thoughts about the first two, Be Human and Stay Humble. Today, I want to dig into the third value, the one that’s about showing up with purpose and care despite what’s potentially swirling around us:
Bring Your Best Self.
We all have bad days. We get tired. Overwhelmed. Frustrated. Work stress may be getting too us, or maybe things at home aren’t completely perfect, and on these days, we may feel ourselves struggling.
And you know what? That’s okay! In fact, it’s expected, because we’re human! We’re going to have those days!
The key to getting past challenging days is preventing our negative emotions from dictating how the rest of the day unfolds, because how we show up affects the people around us. Our mindset, readiness, and attention level can spell the difference between a good workday and a bad one. And over time, too many bad days will affect outcomes.
Now, let’s get something straight: Bring Your Best Self doesn’t mean being “on” all the time. It doesn’t mean being perfect. It doesn’t mean shoving your feelings aside and pretending they don’t exist. Again, we’re human, and we’re going to feel our feels.
Bring Your Best Self means:
· being intentional.
· staying present.
· offering focus.
· managing your vibes.
It also means understanding what your best looks like on any given day and communicating that with your team.
None of us are superhuman. We don’t live in the comics. But we can do our best to show up prepared, bring integrity to our work, and respect the time and contributions of others. Because when everyone brings their best, even imperfectly, that’s when teams succeed.
Bring our Best Self is our commitment to showing up with care, for the work we’re doing and the team we’re working with.
We hope to have the opportunity to show you our best selves and, in turn, to see yours.
