At Stoic ProjectWorks, we begin to Ensure Quality when we first sit down with you and learn about your project. That initial conversation sets the stage for the work to come; we’ll learn what your plans are, what you hope to achieve, where you’d like us to help, how you’d like us to work, and where our scope ends.
Our other core values—Be Human, Stay Humble, Bring Your Best Self, and Anchor the Team—form the relational foundation for how we work. But Ensure Quality is about the work itself. It’s about knowing your project’s details, helping to define them (if that’s asked of us), and understanding the route we’ll take to produce it.
If there’s one thing experience has taught us, it’s that quality doesn’t magically appear at the finish line. It emerges through strong processes, thoughtful planning, honest scoping, clear communication, and consistent follow-through. It shows up in the questions we ask at the start of a project, in our willingness to question peers and senior leaders when something doesn’t feel right, and in our ability to listen, take, and utilize feedback during the course of our work on the project.
Ensure Quality means:
defining clear success benchmarks from the outset: This can mean metrics we’ll be asked to measure, timelines we’ll be asked to meet, or project features we’ll be asked to develop through approved processes.
holding ourselves accountable to timelines, budgets, and scope: You have a plan, a goal, a product you want to complete at a specific time — and for a certain amount of investment. Our goal will be to help you and your team achieve all of these goals, all while keeping you informed of any challenges we encounter along the way.
performing quality checks at important checkpoints: How do you know if what you’re producing is meeting expectations unless you put the product through quality assurance checks? Are the product features perfoming as expected? Is the content we’re creating resonating with the intended audience? Do we have third parties giving us their unvarnished opinions? We’ll help development occur outside of the silo that hinders so many other great ideas.
giving feedback early, kindly, and often: We’ll keep you in the loop by identifying risks and issues and making sure we communicate those out regularly, and we’ll do it without finger-pointing or blame. We also hope that you’ll feel comfortable enough to do the same.
documenting what works (and what doesn’t) to make the next project even better: One of the most important aspects of successful product development is making sure that we document what went well, what didn’t, and what we can improve upon. We’ll do this by holding regular retrospectives and implementing the action items from those retros as soon as we can — and then providing you with a post-project report so you can take what we learned and implement those lessons in the future, whether that’s with us or not.
